The Program:
Lost educational opportunities have a cumulative effect on the lives of children – limiting their future opportunities and perpetuating the disadvantage they face over time. This program provides a trauma-informed approach to re-engaging students in learning, with consistent and targeted strengths-based support. Qualified teachers provide one on one teaching to vulnerable young people to re-engage or remain engaged with education, improving attendance and retention. Contributing to increased opportunities and life outcomes for young people through education. Teachers are required to implement tailored educational programs to meet the individual needs of the young people. This includes providing intensive teaching in literacy and numeracy to enable the young people to reach their true potential. Teachers work closely with the young person’s Care Team which may include carers, case managers, school staff and other professionals.
Make your mark:
Unique, community-based teaching model with the opportunity to lead a team of teachers working one on one with students who are disengaged or require support to remain engaged in education.
This role provides qualified teachers the opportunity to provide leadership to a team of teachers supporting young people who are disengaged, or at risk of disengagement from education. In addition to providing support for the team, you will also be required to regularly collaborate with other Lead Teachers across the state to ensure cohesive program wide delivery. You will also be liaising with internal and external partners and funding bodies to promote the program, report on outcomes, and strengthen partnerships. Providing regular Supervision to the team is a component of this role, as well as arranging and facilitating regular team meetings and professional development opportunities. You will also be required to seek, triage, and allocate referrals in a timely manner.
