We want our recruitment process to give you the chance to shine — to bring forward your skills, experience and values, and show us what makes you a great fit for the role and for Anglicare Victoria. It’s not about ticking boxes, but about creating space for you to share your story and potential.
At the same time, our process helps us choose well. We have a responsibility to the children, families and communities we support, and that means finding people who not only have the right capabilities, but who are ready to work with compassion, resilience and purpose. Every decision we make is about building the strongest team we can, so together we can make every moment matter.
Start by submitting your application online with a resume and cover letter. Some roles may also ask you to address key selection criteria. This is your chance to introduce yourself, highlight your experience, and share why the role matters to you. We review applications carefully and look for alignment not just with the skills required, but with our values and purpose.
During the advertising process, we review applications against the role requirements and shortlist candidates for the next stage. We may reach out for a short phone or video chat which is a quick way to get to know you better, clarify details, and give you a chance to ask early questions about the role and the process.
Shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview, usually with a panel of two or three people. We use behavioural questions, asking you to share examples from your past experience. This helps us understand how you think, how you work with others, and how you might approach the real challenges of the role. Our interviews are designed to be fair, respectful and inclusive, and we encourage you to bring your whole self to the conversation.
Before we make an offer, we’ll complete reference checks with people you’ve worked with previously. Depending on the role, we are also required to complete other checks, such as a police check, a Working with Children Check, confirmation of your right to work in Australia, as well as others. These steps are about making sure we meet our duty of care to the children, families and communities we support.
If you’re successful, we’ll contact you with a formal offer and all the details you need to make your decision. Once you accept, we’ll guide you through our onboarding process — helping you settle in, connect with your new team, and get the support you need to start strong. From day one, we want you to feel part of Anglicare Victoria, and confident about the difference you can make here.
All applications are submitted online via our careers portal. You’ll need to upload a resume and, in most cases, a cover letter. The cover letter is your chance to tell us why you’re interested in the role and how your experience aligns with what we’re looking for.
Some roles may ask you to respond directly to selection criteria. If so, this will be clear in the job advertisement. If criteria aren’t listed, your resume and cover letter should still highlight your relevant skills, experience and values.
Once applications close, our recruitment team or hiring managers review every application. If your application is shortlisted, you may be invited to a short phone or video chat, or directly to an interview. We’ll keep you updated as the process progresses and you will be able to check the status of your application by logging back in to your applicant account.
Most interviews are conducted by a panel of two or three people. We use behavioural questions, which means we’ll ask you to share examples of your past experiences and how you approached them. This helps us understand your skills, judgement and values. Our interviews are designed to be fair, inclusive and supportive.
Yes. We want every candidate to have a fair opportunity to demonstrate their skills. If you require adjustments, such as extra time, a different interview format, or accessible technology , please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
All positions at Anglicare Victoria require employees to complete a national/international police check, a Working with Children Check and valid Australian work rights. Reference checks will also be completed before formal offers of employment are made. We’ll always ask for your consent before conducting any checks and explain what’s required for the position.
We aim to complete the recruitment process within 4–6 weeks of the closing date, although this may vary. We’ll notify you as soon as possible after each stage of the process, whether or not you’ve been successful.
If your application is not successful, we’ll let you know, usually via email or over the phone if you've interviewed with us. Where possible, we provide feedback to help with future applications. You are also welcome to sign up for job alerts to keep an eye out for other positions you might want to apply for in the future.
Absolutely. We’re proud to be building an inclusive, progressive organisation where everyone feels valued and supported. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, people of all faiths and no faith, and LGBTQIA+ candidates.
