Your role.

The Orange Door offer help and support to families experiencing complex needs and risk issues in any of the following service areas: Family Services, Child Protection, Family Violence, Disability, Housing, Mental Health and/or Alcohol and Other Drugs.

In this role you will join the team at The Orange Door Frankston and be part of integrated team that provides specialist services to children and young people entering The Orange Door.

As a Practitioner you will support people with advice with a focus on risk assessment, engagement, and provision of an initial response and as a source of information to people referred to the Hub. You will work collaboratively as part of an integrated practice approach to respond to family violence and children and family vulnerability concerns through the provision of:

  • Screening and triage, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions;
  • Allocation services and coordination of referrals;
  • Collaborative working with the Hub team to support integrated risk assessment and planning, including participating in case conferences, meetings and the resolution of stakeholder issues.

Travel requirements:

This role will be based at Frankston but you might be required to work across the Orange Door Bayside Peninsula network, which includes Bentleigh and Hastings sites.

 

Make your mark:

  • Use your experience working with children and young people at risk.
  • Conduct child safety assessments.
  • Understanding of child and family vulnerability so you can assess that risk.
  • The ability to work with children and families and/or family violence where there are complex needs and risk issues.
  • Resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma.
  • The ability to identify, assess and prioritise risks and needs of clients in a whole of family approach.
  • The ability to recognise and identify limits of own expertise and to seek advice or refer clients to other specialists.

Ready to take the next step:

A mandatory minimum qualification policy will apply to specialist family violence practitioners who enter the workforce from 1 July 2021.

  • hold a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification, or
  • Are working towards or can meet the new mandatory minimum qualification policy requirement via one of the available employment pathways.
