About Us:

At Anglicare Victoria our focus is on transforming the futures of children and young people, families and adults. Our work is based on three guiding pillars, Prevent, Protect, Empower. We offer a comprehensive network of services and seek to ensure the provision of high quality services that will bring about significant improvements in the life experience of the young people, children and families/caregivers with whom we work.

The Position:

HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngster) is a free, two‐year, home‐based early childhood learning program that empowers parents and carers to be their child's first teacher.

The program delivers to families who have a child aged 3 years and 4 years – delivering support during the two years before they commence school. HIPPY is a free two-year, play-based curriculum with fun activity packs and storybooks. Starting when the child turns three, HIPPY mentors practice the activities with the parent and carer, using role play at home visits. HIPPY assists children to become curious learners and to achieve important developmental milestones. In the second year of HIPPY, families learn skills to assist with preparing their child for school. Families spend 10 to 15 minutes a day doing educational activities with their child.

The Home Mentor is encouraged to participate in available training opportunities in the local area or provided by the program.

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  • An understanding of the HIPPY program
  • Be comfortable visiting homes in the community.
  • Have basic computer, communication and literacy skills.
  • Have a Driver's license and be able to travel across the Bendigo area.

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.
