About Us

At Anglicare Victoria, we work alongside children, young people and families to help build safer, stronger futures. Our work is guided by three pillars Prevent, Protect, Empower and grounded in compassion, courage and commitment.

The Orange Door is central to this work, bringing together specialist family violence and child and family services into one integrated entry point for support.

About the Role

As a Practitioner within The Orange Door, you will work in an Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention capacity as part of an integrated team.

This is primarily a phone-based role, where your practice skills are applied through conversation, risk assessment and planning.

One call may involve supporting a victim survivor of family violence. The next may focus on the safety and wellbeing of a child experiencing abuse, neglect or instability.

The work is diverse, complex and often time critical. It requires emotional agility, sound judgement and the ability to assess risk while remaining calm and compassionate.

You will work collaboratively within the integrated model, contributing to shared risk assessment, case planning and coordinated responses across child wellbeing and family violence streams.

Make your mark:

  • You could bring your experience in child protection, child and family services, or family violence.
  • Have confidence navigating legislative and policy frameworks to inform risk assessment and planning.
  • With a strong understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect.
  • You will be conducting risk and needs assessments and developing safety plans.
  • Ability to actively engage vulnerable children, young people and families.
  • Your commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
  • A commitment to working with victim survivors and adults using family violence.
  • With collaborative practice skills within multidisciplinary environments.

Make it work:

  • A salary starting at around $100,766 plus super plus salary packaging (Level 5 SCHADS)
  • Negotiable dependent upon your years of experience or current SCHCADS level.
  • Position will be based at the Bendigo Orange Door.
  • 9am–5pm hours offering predictability in a complex sector
  • You will be supported by Practice Leaders, Team Leaders and Senior Practitioners. Risk is shared. Practice is reflective. You are not working in isolation.
  • We take staff wellbeing seriously, offering: Well Worth It! wellbeing program. Fitness Passport. EIP and EAP and discounted health insurance.
  • Dedicated Learning and Development support at The Orange Door, through Family Safety Victoria and by Anglicare Victoria.
  • A workplace with Rainbow Tick Accreditation and DCA Inclusive Employer recognition.

“I feel really supported probably the most supported I’ve ever felt in a workplace. This job can be difficult, so if you’re supported, that’s half the battle.”
