Your role.

In this role you will join the team at The Orange Door working within an Intake, Assessment and Brief Intervention space, and be part of an integrated team that provides specialist services to parents and carers, children and young people accessing The Orange Door. You will also support those that are impacted by family violence.


As a Practitioner you would be expected to have:


• Proven experience in following legislative and policy guidelines, seeking information from multiple sources to inform risk assessment and planning.
• Support parents to ensure the social, emotional, educational, health and developmental needs for their children are met
• A good understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect and experience in applying relevant theoretical approaches to deliver outcomes.
• Experience in active engagement of vulnerable children, youth and families and delivering a range of interventions to improve their outcomes
• Experience in conducting risk and needs assessments, and developing and implementing safety plans
• Collaborative working with the hub team to support a collaborative and integrated model of service delivery including integrated risk assessment and planning, case conferences, meetings and the resolution of stakeholder issues.
• A commitment to working with families of vulnerable children and young people who have experienced trauma
• Experience and/or commitment to working with victim survivors of family violence or adults who are using family violence.

Ready to take the next step:

As this role works across Child Wellbeing and Family Violence a mandatory minimum qualification policy will apply to practitioners who enter the workforce from 1 July 2021.

  • hold a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification, or
  • Can meet the new mandatory minimum qualification policy requirement via one of the available employment pathways.
