The Team: 

The Navigator program works with young people aged 12 to 17 years who have dis-engaged from education, to re-engage in their education through effective assertive outreach and case management support. AV and Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation (Ramahyuck) have partnered to deliver an innovative Navigator program that works collaboratively with young people, their families, schools, communities, Local Learning and Employment Networks, and DET Area teams to provide holistic support targeted at re-engaging to education.

The team leader role is responsible to:

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of services and ensure all performance requirements of the service are met, including ensuring all data collection is up to date.
  • Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of budget income and expenditure.
  • To represent AV on relevant local bodies in consultation with the Manager.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the program and agency strategic planning, evaluation and administrative procedures as required.
  • Supervision and development of all staff within the team.
  • Liaise and negotiate a variety of relationships, including with the Department of Education and Training (DET), schools, and external stakeholders including Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENS) and other agencies to promote integration of the service in the community.

 Role requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with relevant experience; or diploma level with substantial experience.
  •  Demonstrated leadership capability with a multi-disciplinary team including the supervision and development of staff.
  • Relevant experience and competence in provision of support services for young people who are at risk and/or exhibiting challenging behaviours, including coordination, development and evaluation of case/client service planning.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of current and relevant theoretical frameworks in relation to working with adolescents, and their parents/carers.
  • Skills in developing professional partnerships and working collaboratively with other professionals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication with ability to engage with a wide variety of people.
  • Experience in budget development and financial monitoring of program expenditure.
