Your role:

Better Futures supports young people aged 15–21 as they prepare to transition from care into adulthood.

The program works alongside young people to strengthen their independence, helping them build connections to housing, education, training, employment, community and wellbeing supports.

As a Development Coach, you will work alongside young people to help them identify their goals, strengths and ambitions. This is not a traditional case management role, it is focused on empowering young people to develop life skills, confidence and independence while providing practical support and advocacy when needed.

You will support young people both in the community and through outreach, including attending appointments, assisting with housing and Centrelink processes, and helping young people strengthen their connection to family, culture and community.

  • Conducting assessments and collaborative goal setting
  • Supporting young people with housing pathways and accommodation stability
  • Helping young people access education, training and employment opportunities
  • Connecting young people with health, wellbeing and community supports
  • Managing and navigating brokerage funding and support packages
  • Working creatively and flexibly to support young people to achieve their goals
  • Outreach and community-based support

 

What will help you succeed in this role:

  • Experience working with young people in youth work, child protection, housing, foster care, residential care or community services
  • Understanding of the child protection and housing systems
  • Strong engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence working autonomously while remaining connected within a team
  • Strong financial literacy and confidence managing brokerage funding
  • A creative and flexible approach to supporting young people
  • Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work or a related discipline are highly regarded

 

Make it work:

  • You get a salary starting at around $105,557 plus super.
  • SCHCADS award level 5.
  • Negotiable through the increments dependent upon experience.
  • Salary packaging is available up to $15,900 plus an entertainment card.
  • Full time, permanent.
